His String Quartet in Em was premiered at the Placitas Artists Series Willy Sucre and Friends concert held on Sunday, May 19, 2002 and was reviewed by Joanne Sheehy Hoover in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday, May21st as follows:

"Bullock’s three-movement E Minor String Quartet offered delicious surprises as he weaved in and out of pop-inspired material with the ease of a musical chameleon. Emotionally and stylistically fluid, the music had an engaging playfulness, particularly the second movement, with its exotic, rhythmically shifting Middle-Eastern spell."  "......Bullock grew up in a musical family in Brooklyn and seems to have taken in music through his pores."

The piece was played by members of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra: violinists Krzysztof Zimowski (Concertmaster) and Joan Wang, violist Willy Sucre and cellist Joan Zucker (Principal Cellist).
